about

Mary’s Lullaby was written back in 2008/2009 and included on my first Christmas project, Nativity. It has been a perennial favorite and a number of people have reached out to me about it and performed it at their churches. I wanted to do an updated version of the song with better recording quality. Nora Kirkland came to my attention through a video posted on the Art & Theology blog in which she was singing a song in English, Greek, and Farsi. I thought she had a real tenderness and innocence to her voice and so I reached out to her about singing on this new recording. She was able to record her part in Athens, Greece and send it back to me where I put everything together and then sent it off to Zambroa in California for mixing. The wonders of technology (and the incarnation!). I’m very pleased with how this one turned out. I hope you will feel a bit of the peace and wonder of Mary as you listen and meditate on her experience.
