J. Dickey This is a true undiscovered gem of lo-fi folk. The production has a wonderfully authentic and live sound that highlights the beauty of the acoustic instruments. The melodies and songwriting are instantly familiar, as if I've heard these songs many times before (I consider that a good thing). Trying to find a musical comparison, this album reminds me of the folk/gospel compositions from Kentucky Route Zero. Favorite track: Nightingale.

davekillcountysmith This has got the feel of one of those albums of re-arranged trad folk songs. That is a massive compliment to the song-writing ability of Wilder Adkins. These could all be classic folk songs. Add in great vocals and sumptuous guitar-work, extend the contents to 52 minutes, and we have something very special here, indeed. Favorite track: Cereus.

about

Recorded in the Fall of 2008, Nightblooms is a lo-fi art folk album. Instruments include, but are not limited to, acoustic guitar, appalachian dulcimer, voice, tambourine, djembe, whistling, and a paperclip in a coke can! Don't miss this idyllic ode to flowers such as the Nightblooming Cereus and the Lenten Rose!
