This is a song I wrote back in 2008/2009. I really love parts of the old recording but I had been wanting to do an updated, more high quality version for a while. Through a website called Art & Theology, I saw a video of Nora Kirkland singing a worship song in English, Greek, and Farsi and I thought that she would be such a good fit for singing this song written from Mary's perspective. There's an innocence and youthfulness to Nora's voice, and she is still a teen, herself, as Mary likely was during the events of the Christmas story. Nora was able to record her part in Athens, Greece, where she lives, and send it back to me (the wonders of technology!).
lyrics
Sleep and rest your eyes, my love
Let me warm you in my arms
Sleep and rest your eyes, my love
Let me warm you in my arms
The world is rushing all about
Tonight such peace is in your eyes
The world is rushing all about
Tonight such peace is in your eyes
O, my son, how still you lay
I wonder what you dream
O, my God, the world is yours
why have you chosen me?
Sleep and rest your eyes my, love
let me warm you in my arms
Sleep and rest your eyes my, love
let me warm you in my arms
the world is weeping all about
tonight such peace is in my heart
the world is weeping all about
tonight such peace is in my heart
Hallelujah, hallelujah,
you are the morning star
Hallelujah, hallelujah
how beautiful you are
Hallelujah, hallelujah,
you are the morning star
Hallelujah, hallelujah
how beautiful you are

Becca's writing is so rich, I fell in love instantly with her images and the stories she weaves here in Doxologies. One of my favorites of 2015. Wilder Adkins
